Prop. 64 Drug Education

Cobert Safety Professionals has adopted The Change Companies® Keep It Direct & Simple, and Forward Thinking, Interactive Journaling curriculums.

These cognitive-behavioral courses, “My Substance Abuse,” and “What Got Me Here,” are each delivered in a one day Saturday class and utilizes evidence-based strategies to assist youth involved in, or at risk of entering, the criminal justice system. The courses help young people to make positive changes to their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

The Forward Thinking Interactive Journaling® Series was developed in collaboration with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Juvenile Justice’s Interactive Journaling® Charter.

My Substance Use

My Substance Use takes a close look at the facts about marijuana, along with alcohol, stimulants, opioids, methamphetamine, inhalants, nicotine, hallucinogens, synthetic drugs and prescription drugs. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the effects of these substances on their bodies, minds and lives as they consider the consequences of their use and their current pattern of use. They will then weigh the costs and benefits of continuing use or changing their substance use behavior.

What Got Me Here?

In this course, participants explore the consequences of past decisions and begin to learn skills for controlling anger, handling negative peer pressure, working with authority figures and strengthening family ties. A section addressing marijuana use has been added to this course.
